Room Rep Responsibilities

Attend PTO meetings (approximately 1 per month during school year, skipping one or two)

Volunteer for at least one PTO fundraiser or activity e.g. picnics, WECP nights-out, babysitting nights, book fair, coffee sales, auction

Communicate with parents in your classroom

Introduce yourself (or leadership will introduce you) to the parents

Tell them about PTO meetings

Promote PTO fundraisers and PTO sponsored activities

If teachers ask you to, help communicate classroom-specific information

Communicate with teachers

Introduce yourself at beginning of year

Tell them about upcoming PTO meetings, fundraisers, and activities

Act as conduit between teachers and PTO when needed

Fundraise for teacher holiday and year-end gifts

Room reps could also organize non-monetary gifts, such as handmade items, children's crafts. PTO also typically organizes a PTO-funded teacher appreciation in April/May for NationalmTeacher Appreciation Day.

Sometimes room rep has organized treats around certain holidays or teacher birthdays

Sometimes room reps have organized parents to congratulate families on life events(e.g. birth of a sibling) or bid farewell to someone who leaves the classroom mid-year. Examples include just getting a card for all to sign, arranging a meal-train, or going in on a gift card.

Some room reps have worked with teachers to fundraise for a special wish list item for the classroom, or have found a way to get a wish list item donated to the classroom.

Some room reps have also organized Pizza Fridaysor other special lunches. These may beclassroom fundraisers or just an excuse not to pack a lunch for one day.
Meeting Policies

We would like at least one rep from each room and one teacher present at each meeting

Meeting calendar will be set in advance with group input

Agendas will be sent via email in advance

If you cant attend but feel strongly about agenda item, weigh in before meeting

Decisions will be made by majority vote of those in attendance
